Compact Dry PA
Ready-To-Use Plate for the Enumeration of Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Compact Dry PA is a ready-to-use plate for the enumeration of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in water, beverages, foods, cosmetics and production surfaces. The gram negative, aerobic, rod-shaped bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a typical soil and water bacterium found on plants and in damp environments. It is an opportunistic pathogen, causing disease in the community for those with a weak immune system and causes spoilage in food and beverage products.
Compact Dry PA plates are incubated at 34-36°C for 45-51 hours. Pseudomonas aeruginosa grow as red colonies due to the integrated redox indicator die Tetrazolium salt. The differentiation to other pseudomonads is the formation of a greenish-yellow halo surrounding the colony. Some other bacterial genera or Pseudomonas species are able to grow in some cases but will form colourless or red colonies without the greenish-yellow halo. Compact Dry PA tests do not require a confirmation test for the detection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
