Bovine milk is used as an ingredient in a range of food products and is one of the most important food allergens, especially for infants. Very low amounts of bovine milk can trigger allergic reactions including anaphylactic shock. Approximately 80% bovine milk proteins are Caseins. β-Lactoglobulin, the major allergen of whey, represents a further 10% of the total protein. As milk is used as an ingredient in a wide variety of products, precaution must be taken to avoid cross contamination. 

The AgraStrip® Total Milk kit is a ready-to-use lateral flow device supplied with all the consumables required to run 10 tests. Milk residue can be detected at any stage of the production process from testing surfaces, ingredients right through to finished product analysis. The lateral flow device provides a positive or negative result within 11 minutes, enabling corrective actions to be implemented quickly when required.
