Compact Dry VP is an easy to use counting system for Vibrio parahaemolyticus in food and environmental samples. Compact Dry VP can not only easily detect Vibrio parahaemolyticus, but also differentiate Vibrio parahaemolyticus from other vibrios.
Vibrio parahaemolyticus is a bacterium that can cause cholera. Vibrio parahaemolyticus-associated gastroenteritis is the infection caused by this organism. Vibrio parahaemolyticus naturally inhabits coastal waters and is present in higher concentrations during the summer; it is a halophilic, or salt-requiring organism. Vibrio parahaemolyticus is found in marine environments, seafoods, and the feces of patients with acute enteritis.
Results are available in 20-24 hours and are incubated at 35-37°C.
Easy-to-read-results test
The media contains a specific chromogenic substrate for Vibrio parahaemolyticus which develops blue/green or blue colonies, whereas other vibrios develop white colonies.
Easy-to-store test
The plates can be kept at room temperature for up to 15 months after production.
Each foil bag contains 4 tests, ideal for small or infrequent users.
