Bovine milk is used as an ingredient in a range of food products and is one of the most important food allergens, especially for infants. Very low amounts of bovine milk can trigger allergic reactions including anaphylactic shock. Approximately 80% bovine milk proteins are Caseins. β-Lactoglobulin, the major allergen of whey, represents a further 10% of the total protein. As milk is used as an ingredient in a wide variety of products, precaution must be taken to avoid cross contamination.
AgraQuant® Milk is a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) that determines a quantitative level of the presence of Milk in raw and processed food, rinse waters and environmental swabs. The kit is supplied with standards, antibody coated microwells, extraction buffer, wash buffer, conjugate, substrate and stop solution.
